Until the invention of a "psychic computer", information has to be transfered into the computer, and
the computer has to be given instructions by its human operators using a variety of "input devices".
Today, this is typically done with keyboards, mice, and joysticks, though
scanners are sometimes used to convert large volumes of alread-printed documents into a digital form.
