Sports: Regina's Competitive Sports scene
Regina has some great opportunities to watch somebody ELSE sweat it out, with some top-level competitive athletes.
Saskatchewan Roughriders This team is Regina's team in the Canadian
Football League, and represents the ambitions of all provincial residents. The
team's sporting traditions date back to The Regina Roughriders Football Club
in 1912, which won nine western Canadian titles. They play at Regina's Taylor Field.
Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League play other teams across
Western Canada and the northern US. They play at the 5,750 seat Brandt Centre.
Pats are the oldest Major Junior Hockey Franchise in the world, having played since 1917
(the team was called the "Patricias" until 1923) and has won several
Memorial Cups going back as far as 1925. 306-522-PATS(7287).

University of Regina Cougars The U of R's teams are all call "Cougars"
(Except the Rams Football team). The University fields teams in the sports of
Basketball, Hockey, Swimming, Volleyball, Football, Wrestling, Track & Field,
Soccer, which play other Universities across western Canada. (306) 585-4018.
Queensbury Downs. Horse racing enthusiasts can take in the
races in an enclosed grandstand, sample fine dining, even wager on races simulcast from other tracks.
