This is the oldest bird sanctuary in North America and covers 1,102 hectares. The Sanctuary lies on the Central Flyway for the seasonal bird migrations and is visited by 150 species. The highlight is in May and late-August/early September when 20,000 sandhill cranes stop over. There are two self-guided nature trails, and even a self-guided driving tour. Open daily from dawn to duck. Free admission.
